Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
yt-dlp online is built privacy-first. We do not run analytics, advertising trackers, or telemetry of any kind. This policy explains exactly what does and does not happen with your data.
The desktop app
The desktop application runs entirely on your computer. It does not create an account, does not transmit your download history anywhere, and does not phone home. The only outbound connections it makes are (1) to the sites you ask it to download from, and (2) to fetch updates for the yt-dlp engine and FFmpeg.
The cloud extraction endpoint
The in-browser downloader sends the URL you paste to our extraction endpoint, which runs yt-dlp server-side to read the available formats and returns the direct media links to your browser. This request is stateless: we do not attach it to an identity, we do not build a profile, and we do not retain a per-user log of the URLs processed. No media files are proxied through or stored on our servers — your browser downloads directly from the source.
Standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and timestamp) may be generated by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention, and are rotated automatically. We do not sell or share any such data.
Cookies
This website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Any cookies are limited to essential functionality.
Children's privacy
This service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new revision date.
